Reflection: Continuing Nursing Education
Nursing education is important because it helps nurses to develop the knowledge and
skills necessary to provide safe and effective patient care. Education has become significant in
helping them better understand the complexities of the healthcare system and how to navigate it
effectively (Jefferies et al., 2018). With such significance, the nurse will be able to develop a
strong professional network and support system, which can benefit personally and
professionally. I currently have my BSN and work as a staff nurse on a medical-surgical floor. In
the future, I would like to continue my education and obtain my MSN. My overall educational
goal is to become a registered nurse with a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN). I am passionate
about providing quality patient care and hope to use my nursing education to make a positive
difference in the lives of those I care for.
Based on my education level, I have a few different options in the job market. I could
continue working as a staff nurse, become a nurse educator, or become a nurse administrator. I
think that continuing my education and obtaining my MSN would allow me to be more
competitive in the job market and would allow me to advance in my career. I plan to work in a
hospital setting leading other nurses and working with patients and families to provide care and
support. I am also interested in working in a community health setting, providing care to
underserved populations. I believe that nursing education is essential to prepare me for my career
as a nurse, and I am committed to completing my nursing education.
Nurses play a vital role in the healthcare system, providing care for patients and families
in various settings (Jefferies et al., 2018). Nursing education is an important step in preparing
nurses for their role in the healthcare system. Nursing education programs prepare nurses for the
healthcare system's challenges by providing them with the knowledge and skills necessary to

provide care in various settings. These nurses should consider it an important step in preparing
them for their role in the healthcare system. Education in this field prepares them for the
healthcare system's challenges by providing them with the knowledge and skills necessary to
provide care in various settings.
The report recommends that nurses pursue higher levels of education in order to provide
better care and achieve health equity. The report recommends that nurses pursue professional
certification or advanced degrees, such as an MSN or DNP, to be better prepared to provide care
(Wakefield et al., 2021). The report also recommends that nurses pursue continuing education to
keep up with the latest evidence-based care practices. The report provides a timeline for nurses to
accomplish these goals, which includes completing an accredited nursing program, passing the
NCLEX-RN examination, and obtaining professional certification or an advanced degree
(Wakefield et al., 2021). I want to pursue a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree. I am
motivated to attain this education to provide my patients with the best care possible. I believe an
MSN degree will provide me with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide high-quality
care. I also believe that an MSN degree will allow me to advance my career and attain a higher
level of responsibility in the nursing profession. I plan to accomplish this goal within the next 6
years.
Increasing a nurse's level of education improves their competitiveness in the job market.
The American Nurses Association (ANA) supports continuing education for nurses at all levels
to keep them current with the latest evidence-based practice (Jefferies et al., 2018). The ANA
also recognizes that nurses with higher levels of education are better prepared to meet the
challenges of the future of nursing. With the current nursing shortage, there is a great demand for
nurses with higher levels of education. Hospitals are looking for nurses with BSNs and MSNs to
4
fill vacant positions (Sundean et l., 2019). With a higher level of education. I will be able to
provide better patient care and be better equipped to handle the complexities of the healthcare
system. Nurses with higher levels of education are also better prepared to take on leadership
roles in the future of nursing. With an MSN, I can pursue advanced practice roles such as nurse
practitioner, clinical nurse specialist, or nurse anesthetist. These roles require a higher level of
knowledge and skills, and I can be better prepared to meet the challen
